Member and LinkedIn Community Manager Andreliqua Cannaday joined the global change management community at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, for Change Orlando 2026 (May 17–20). This year’s conference carried a special energy, marking the 15th anniversary of the ACMP.
Under the theme “From Imagination to Impact: Leading Change Together,” the event challenged attendees to look beyond traditional frameworks. As organizations face unprecedented disruption, the overarching message is clear: modern change leadership must be faster, smarter, and profoundly more human.
Speaker: Andreliqua Cannaday is a Prosci & CCMP-certified change management practitioner with five years of experience helping service operations call center teams navigate performance disruption during AI technology transformation.
A Navy veteran originally from Columbus, Ohio, Andreliqua now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her military background and experience supporting frontline teams shaped her commitment to equipping people leaders with the language, context, and behavioral insights they need to support people through change.
The ACMP × ICF Carolinas collaboration continues! Building on the momentum of our May 14 joint kickoff, this next session brings change practitioners, coaches, leaders, and related professionals together to explore how coaching and change management can work together to support more human-centered transformation.
Event Description:
Why do people resist change — even when the case for change is clear?
Change practitioners know the importance of communicating a compelling “why,” building readiness, and providing the right support. Coaches know the importance of helping people identify patterns, beliefs, goals, and aligned actions. Yet even when people understand the logic, the benefits, and the path forward, resistance can still show up.
That is because resistance is not always logical. Often, it is protective.
In this session, we’ll explore the neuroscience behind resistance and why the brain can interpret change as a threat, even when the change is positive or necessary. We’ll also examine how resistance shows up in ways that may not look like resistance — including hesitation, disengagement, over-analysis, silence, avoidance, or compliance without commitment.
Together, we’ll look at how both change management and coaching can help create the conditions for safety, trust, readiness, and sustainable action.
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how to help people move from resistance to readiness — not by pushing harder, but by addressing the human needs underneath the response.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Explore how change practitioners and coaches can work together to support more sustainable transformation.
